Hello! Fashion month is over, fall is here and so is layering. Lately, I’ve been layering more and more—creating vastly overdone vignettes of architectural shapes that merge together and form new silhouettes. I don’t buy new clothes for fashion month. But let me introduce you to a few strategic layering devices that I do indulge in to make the things I’ve already worn feel brand new: piling tulle over sequins, hiding rugbys under twisted vests and more, more, more. Layering in weird ways means that even if you’re wearing the same thing as someone else, it’s definitely not going to look like a carbon copy double.
Here are a few little formulas that feel exciting for me lately. Consider it a masterclass on the secret life of layering, or just another way of looking at dressing to make everything in your closet feel original.
